More than 45 years old, founded in 1954 in honor of ethnic Swedish ancestors
living on the Isle of Dagoe in the Baltic sea. Although of Swedish heritage,
the residents of the island came under Russian rule in 1710. Many left their
island home to journey to what is now known as Ukraine to settle in the "Swedish
District", known as Starosjvedskaja in Russian and Gammalsvenskby in Swedish.
